O2TV is coming out with several innovations for its customers - starting from 1 November 2011:
- 6 HD and 3 new SD channels added to O2TV channel menu - all for the same price, no increases
- A new HD category in Video on Demand featuring 25 films in HD quality to start with
- Double the capacity of O2TV Recording by the end of the year
- TV Archive becomes a free feature of O2TV and will be automatically activated for every customer
- O2TV with Home Internet for CZK 650 per month
"According to our statistics, 38 % of customers watch O2TVon their HD television and a quarter of customers are considering HD television purchase. Customers therefore welcome films in the best quality - in High Definition (HD), so we decided to include six HD channels in the programming of O2TV.We are also adding 25 new feature films in HD quality to the Video on Demand. We believe that our customers will appreciate these and other innovations", says Jiří Dvorjančanský, Marketing Director, Telefónica Czech Republic.
New HD and SD channels
The new HD channels include Animal planet HD, ČT HD, NOVA HD, NOVA Sport HD, HBO HD and Filmbox HD. Until the end of January 2012, ČT HD and NOVA HD are a part of the basic package O2TV Start, which is free for Home Internet customers. The other HD channels will be added to the other O2TV thematic packages. The customer will not have to pay anything extra, the price remains the same. The new SD channels are Disney Junior, Animal Planet and Golf Channel, the only channel bringing only golf to TV around the clock. These channels will also be added to the existing packages. The price will be the same.
HD Video on Demand
The virtual video library, Video on Demand, will now get a new HD section, with 25 feature films in HD quality, and more will be added later. The price to rent a HD film is CZK 75. Only a few clicks on remote will get the film onto your screen - all without having to leave the comfort of your home. The Video on Demand function currently offers more than 500 films and programmes in the standard and HD quality.
Recording with twice the capacity
Starting from 1 November and until 31 December, every O2TV customer can subscribe to the promotional offer of O2TV Recording, a function to record and playback any programme. The service capacity will be doubled in the period in question, offering a recording time of up to twenty hours. The recorded programme can then be watched anytime within the next 7 days. Programmes can be recorded simultaneously and conveniently from several channels. Recording times are easy to set in the TV menu, online or via a mobile.
TV Archive
From 1 November, TV Archive will be automatically activated to all customers of O2TV free-of-charge. Moreover, the menu of archived programmes was expanded in October. Users of TV Archive will find their favourite shows such as Ordinace v Růžové zahradě, Cesty domů, Ulice or Vyprávěj.
O2TV and Home Internet proposition to new customers
Telefónica is extending its promotion of O2TV bundled with Home Internet. Until 31 December, new customers can subscribe O2TV in combination with Home Internet Optimal for the promo price of CZK 650 per month. The promo price is good for the first 12 months of service with a commitment to 12 months of each service. More about the promotion here.
Availability of HD content
Minimum line capacity for reception of signal in HD quality is 7 Mbps. The line availability and the possibility to increase line speed can be checked online at www.o2tv.cz/hd from 1 November. To view HD content comfortably, a HD or HD-ready television is required, as is a HDMI cable connecting the television with the set-top box.
